FAQ
Whether you're interested in recruitment, learning about our chapter, or just curious, we're here to help. Below we have compiled answers to some of our most commonly asked questions. For further information, please reach out to our recruitment committee.

Recruitment is a time in the beginning of each semester where interested participants get to learn more about the sorority and also get to know the sisters better through events hosted by us. These events are fun, a great way to meet new people, and completely non-obligatory and free. We encourage and welcome anyone who is even slightly interested to come out and see what we’re all about!
Being a member of our sorority can offer many benefits. Joining a sorority can enhance your undergraduate life by: a) expanding your social and professional network b) allowing you to experience personal growth in dealing with a diverse group of women c) offering a chance to challenge yourself in leadership roles d) creating friendships through sisterhood that will last a lifetime, and e) so much more!
Definitely not. As an organization that seeks to promote cultural awareness, we hold the concept of equality in the highest regard. alpha Kappa Delta Phi does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, age, national origin, or sexual orientation. We are an all-inclusive sorority. Any woman who shares similar interests and values is encouraged to join regardless of their own cultural identity. alpha Kappa Delta Phi is composed of the diverse backgrounds and lifestyles of each individual sister. Each member adds her unique experience and spirit to the sorority, building the sisterhood that we are so proud of. We encourage ambitious and motivated women interested in enhancing their college years (and beyond) to attend recruitment or start a chapter.
No, the minimum requirements to be eligible for an interview are specified on the event page. However, it is definitely recommended and encouraged to attend as many events as possible, because rush is a crucial time where you can ask questions about the sorority, get to know the sisters of aKDPhi, and also gives us a chance to get to know you better. This will aid you in deciding whether or not the sorority is right for you.
Academic success is one of our top priorities. We support our sisters through dedicated study hours, helpful resources, and an academic chair who keeps us motivated and on track. Whether it’s studying together or learning new strategies, we’re here to help each other succeed. We also host academic and career workshops throughout the year to share tips for navigating student life at Virginia Tech.
Our sisterhood doesn’t end at graduation. We stay closely connected with our alumni through monthly newsletters and by supporting each other at various events throughout the year. Sisters also attend national conventions that bring together members from chapters across the country to network, attend workshops, and build lifelong connections. Many sisters have walked away from these experiences with valuable mentorships, professional contacts, and even job offers.
Being in alpha Kappa Delta Phi is similar to the time commitment of a 3-credit class. However, there are busier times—like Asian Pacific Islander Desi American Heritage Month (APIDAHM) and Breast Cancer Awareness (BCA) month—when we come together to support our pillars and give back to the community.
